Vocal River with Rhiannon

  • Sounds Good Studios 410 South Michigan Avenue, Studio 632B Chicago United States (map)

Rhiannon is a vocal artist with a vision of music as a vehicle for innovation, healing, transformation, and social change. Rhiannon’s book about her life and teaching methods, Vocal River, The Skill and Spirit of Improvisation, was published in 2013. A vibrant, gifted singer, performance artist, composer, and master teacher, Rhiannon lives and works on her farm on the Big Island of Hawai’i using her singing barn Ha Lau Leo Nani, The Gathering Place as a teaching and performance venue honoring culture and community.

This workshop, Vocal River, is for those singers who have studied with Rhiannon or who are experienced in improvisation. This gathering is limited to 20 experienced improvisers -- strong, committed singers & vocal teachers who want to be more engaged in improvisation. Using these exercises you will deepen your improvisational vocabulary and intuitive skills inventing personal and ensemble music including physical movement, solo work, song form, small ensemble exercises, and group collaborations from Rhiannon's book Vocal River. Hoping to meet new singers as well as refresh relationships with returning friends. Bring your ears, heart, mind and voice. Limit 20.
